Terms of Service

Last updated 31 August 2026.

These terms govern your use of Ridents (the "Service"). By browsing the site, creating an account, or submitting a listing, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. Accounts

You need an account, with a verified email address, to submit a business. You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your password confidential. You must provide accurate registration details, and one person or business may not maintain more accounts than are reasonably needed to manage its own listings.

2. Using the Service

You may search and browse freely. The following are not permitted: automated scraping or bulk downloading of listing data, attempts to manipulate search ranking or review scores, interfering with the Service's normal operation, and circumventing or probing the anti-spam and content-review systems described below.

3. Submitting a listing

By submitting a business you confirm that: you are authorised to represent it, the information provided is accurate and current, and the business and everything you submit about it complies with our Community Guidelines. We may edit submitted content for clarity or formatting, decline a submission, or remove a published listing at our discretion, with or without notice, particularly where a listing violates these terms or the Guidelines.

4. Automated review and enforcement

Every submission is checked by an automated content and spam filter before a human ever reviews it. The filter screens for spam wording, fabricated or placeholder content, and content that is not allowed under our Guidelines (including sexually explicit or adult content, and other prohibited or illegal services). A submission the filter refuses is never published, and where the refusal is caused by specific disallowed wording, we tell you which wording so you can fix it and resubmit.

Accounts that repeatedly submit content the filter refuses are suspended from submitting further listings, and an account suspended this way is also signed out and can no longer sign back in — in other words, repeated policy violations can get an account banned from the Service, not only from submitting. This is separate from, and does not require, any single submission being reviewed by a person first. If you believe an account was suspended in error, contact us using the details on our Contact page and we will look into it.

5. Ranking

Ranking is determined by the published signals. Placement cannot be bought. Where a paid placement exists it is shown separately and labelled as sponsored, and it never affects organic ranking.

6. Accuracy of listings

Listings are reviewed, not guaranteed. We do our best to keep information current, but businesses change. Verify details directly with a business — hours, pricing, licensing — before relying on them.

7. Your content, our licence

You retain ownership of the text, images and other material you submit. By submitting it, you grant us a worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, display, reproduce, and adapt it (for example, resizing an image, or correcting formatting) for the purpose of operating and promoting the Service. You may ask us to remove your content by contacting us; we will do so except where a copy must be retained for a legitimate record-keeping or legal reason.

8. Intellectual property

The Service's design, code, and the compilation of listings as a directory are owned by Ridents or its licensors. You may not copy, reverse-engineer, or create a competing directory from a bulk export of our data.

9. Termination

You may stop using the Service and ask us to close your account at any time by contacting us. We may suspend or terminate an account that violates these terms, the Guidelines, or applicable law, as described in section 4 above or at our discretion for other serious violations.

10. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or that listings are complete, accurate, or uninterrupted.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Ridents is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service or your reliance on a listing, including any dealings you have with a business found through it.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continuing to use the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the revised terms. Material changes will be reflected in the "last updated" date above.

13. Contact

Questions about these terms can be sent through our Contact page.
